What is Decoy?

Decoy makes sure the secret pictures you send stay secret. It is safer than a "secret folder". It doesn't matter if someone snaps a screenshot. You don't need to hide the app. Most importantly, you don't have to rely on someone else to keep your pictures safe.

It works by password protecting your original photograph and then hiding it behind a decoy photo.

Take a picture.

Start by taking the picture that you want to be hidden.

Take a decoy.

Then take a decoy picture. This is what gets saved on your phone and what you send out to other people.

Create a password.

Then come up with a password that will unlock your picture. Oh, and make sure it's not something dumb like "password".

But why Decoy?

Sure, there are other ways to keep your pictures hidden, but they all rely on the person you're sending your pictures to. You can tell your friend to store any pictures you send them in a 'Secret Folder' app. But what if they don't? And did you realize that you will have to delete that picture in six separate places in order to make sure it's not anywhere on your camera roll? What if one of you slips up at some point? And if either of you lose your phone, it's super easy for a hacker to open that "secret" folder.

Relying on some outside service to delete your picture after 30 seconds or whatever has its own problems. There are about a thousand apps and techniques out there that can save pictures sent like this, without you ever knowing. With Decoy, there's no reason to try to screenshot your picture because as long as you have the password, you can view the picture whenever you want. And without that secret password, the decoy pictures are of absolutely no use to any hackers, thieves, or snoops.
